Paleo & Whole30 Recipes
Thank you for joining me here today—I’m back again with another episode of crispy chicken thighs (this one inspired by anchovy lobbyist Alison Roman).
A good Mexican chorizo makes everything in touches taste delicious, without much effort. That’s my kind of meat.
This paleo zucchini bread recipe is a long time coming, and highly recommended during that time of year where there are WAY too many zucchinis.
These kinds of easy grilling meals are my favorite because I never do the actual grilling. Seriously, I will prep all the food and then just hand it over to whoever is within arm’s reach at the time and be like, “Good luck and godspeed.”
How did the name of this recipe get so long? All those words seemed relevant at the time... and still do, I guess. The recipe itself, however, is extremely short. It's only two steps and three ingredients—can't beat that.
It's for when you want buffalo chicken wings, but in a socially-acceptable-at-lunch sort of way.
Tabbouleh is one of my husband's favorite dishes. I actually remember us making an enormous bowl of it at his apartment when we were first dating and bickering over how much lemon juice to put into it (for the record, he was right—it needed more lemon).
"Bikinis, zucchinis, martinis, no weenies." Such wise words from Martha Stewart's friend Snoop.
The other day, a friend of mine said to me, "I don't really like pork chops."
I kept my mouth shut, but inside I was like, "That's inconceivable. I will bet a kajillion dollars that you've never eaten a properly cooked pork chop."
You learn something new every day. The day I made these stuffed mushrooms, I learned that you can make pretty fantastic hummus out of meat.
This summer-meets-fall zucchini soup recipe was a sort of annoyingly delicious accident.
Oh hey, it's a recipe for caramelized onions that doesn't require you to stand at the stove for an hour.
My husband is about to get some well-deserved credit for his creations like this Iranian stew.
Hashweh is a very simple and rustic sort of dish, but feels fancy AF because pine nuts are basically solid gold.
Vegetarian & Vegan Recipes
I’ve been a sorry excuse for a half-Indian woman because I just started making dal for the first time in my many years on this earth. I’ve eaten a lot of dal, but it’s just not something I’ve ever tried to cook until this year.

Gluten-Free Recipes
This unleavened, naturally gluten-free chickpea bread is one of my favorite things to make for myself (socca for one!) and for having people over because it’s sort of impressive and no one else has to know that it’s basically only one ingredient.
I’ve been a sorry excuse for a half-Indian woman because I just started making dal for the first time in my many years on this earth. I’ve eaten a lot of dal, but it’s just not something I’ve ever tried to cook until this year.

That's what my friend Lauren said when I told her about this idea to infuse the most old-school Minnesotan of recipes (hotdish, i.e. casserole) with Indian flavors. And she's right.
It me.
I don’t want to hype this recipe up too much, but you’re going to wanna make it… like, today. And tomorrow. And the next day for three meals a day forever and ever.

The meals I make most often are usually the ones I forget to document for Worthy Pause. I’ve made this sausage skillet thing many, many times, but it never even crossed my mind that it might be a good recipe to share here until the other day when my daughter was scarfing it down like she hadn’t eaten all day (note: she hadn’t eaten all day because she had refused all the other foods).

I first had this Iranian drink called doogh at my in-laws’ house and I’d go as far as saying it’s 3052% more refreshing than most other beverages. Doogh is like a mint-yogurt frappé.

Breaking news: I love food piles. Maybe it's my Minnesotan hot dish heritage, but most of the time I just want all the meal in one pot with all the flavors getting mingly in there.
